Veteran Nollywood actor Roy De Nani has shared a tragic account of his recent hardships, revealing that extreme financial struggles led to the deaths of two of his children.
During an appearance on the Where is the Lie? podcast, the actor explained that both his son and daughter suffered from sickle cell anaemia. He disclosed that they both passed away because he simply did not have the money to pay for the medical care they needed to survive.
De Nani shared that his children urgently required blood transfusions, but his lack of funds at the time meant he was unable to secure the life-saving treatment.
“I lost my son and my daughter because they needed blood transfusions to continue living, but there was no money to buy the blood, and they died,” the actor stated.
The veteran actor also claimed that his financial troubles were made much worse after he was effectively "blacklisted" by the film industry. He alleged that a powerful individual ordered producers to stop casting him, which completely cut off his income for several years.
He shared stories of being asked to leave film sets even after he had already begun filming his scenes, purely because of this "standing order" against his career.
Reflecting on the lack of compassion within the industry, De Nani noted that he received no support from his colleagues during his periods of mourning—not even when he lost his brother.
