Mount Zion Movies Reaches New Heights as ‘Agbara Nla’ Secures October Cinema Release

Mount Zion Film Productions Set for Major Cinematic Milestone with 'Agbara Nla' Return

The transition of Mount Zion Film Productions into commercial cinemas is one of the most fascinating developments in modern African cinema.

For anyone who grew up watching Nigerian television in the 1990s, Agbara Nla (The Ultimate Power) by the iconic Mike Bamiloye was a cultural phenomenon. Families would gather around old-school TV sets, gripped by its raw portrayal of spiritual warfare, the memorable character Isawuru, and its unmistakable gospel message.

Fast forward to today, and Mount Zion is making a massive leap into the formal theatrical box office with the announcement of Agbara Nla: The Return, scheduled for a nationwide cinema release on 1 October 2026.

While Evangelist Mike Bamiloye is reprising his iconic role, the project is being co-created and directed by the next generation, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua “JayMikee” Bamiloye. This younger leadership brings modern cinematography, sharper pacing, and high-quality sound design specifically tailored for today's cinema screens.

The film's plot picks up decades after the legendary spiritual battles that shook the village of Abule Muwonleru, as a long-dormant darkness begins to stir once again. The ancient, malevolent forces that once held the community captive have found new ways to manifest, threatening to consume a whole new generation that has grown detached from the spiritual foundations of their elders.

The story centres on Kola (played by Damilola Mike-Bamiloye) and Bose (Aanu Kolade Abiodun), two young people who find themselves unexpectedly caught in the crosshairs of an escalating supernatural war. As modern occult practices and shadowy demonic strongholds rise to claim authority over the minds and destinies of the youth, the battle lines are redrawn.

To survive and conquer this resurrected evil, they must look back to the historic victories of the past. This forces a dramatic re-entry of the veteran spiritual warrior Isawuru (reprised by Evangelist Mike Bamiloye), alongside Olaboye (Philip Olubakin). Together, the old guard and the new generation must unite in an intense, high-stakes confrontation where raw faith, bold evangelism, and divine power are put to the ultimate test against advanced forces of darkness.

Mount Zion has partnered with Sozo Films and the virtual cinema platform Circuits for this release. Furthermore, the nationwide physical theatrical distribution is being managed by Blue Pictures Limited, a major powerhouse in the Nigerian cinema landscape.
