Rockstar Games Unveils Grand Theft Auto 6 Cover Art and Pre-Order Timeline
Rockstar Games has officially announced the pre-order launch date and unveiled the definitive cover art for Grand Theft Auto 6, one of the most highly anticipated releases in entertainment history.
According to the developer, pre-sales for the title will commence on June 25 across digital platforms, including the PlayStation Store, as well as via select brick-and-mortar retailers.
Following two previous production delays—which pushed the timeline from autumn 2025 and subsequently May 2026—Grand Theft Auto 6 is now firmly scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Cover Art Reveal
The official cover art was introduced via a 30-second promotional video set to a synth-driven score. Sticking to the franchise’s signature pop-art aesthetic, the vibrant artwork features dual protagonists Jason and Lucia positioned above the game's title, alongside a montage of supporting characters.
The composition also highlights the game's setting of Leonida—a fictionalized interpretation of Florida—incorporating regional motifs such as flamingos and alligators, alongside the high-performance cars, motorcycles, and helicopters that define the series' identity.
Market Anticipation and Commercial Context
While community anticipation remains high for a dedicated gameplay demonstration, public engagement with the title is already historic. The game's previous two cinematic trailers, released in 2023 and 2025 respectively, have accumulated a combined 446 million views to date. The upcoming sequel faces immense commercial expectations; its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5 (2013), currently stands as the second best-selling video game of all time.
The Pricing Debate
Notably absent from Thursday's announcement was any confirmation regarding retail pricing, a subject that continues to prompt intense speculation among consumers and industry analysts alike.
Due to escalating development budgets and the high-profile nature of the release, some market experts anticipate a premium pricing strategy. A 2025 industry report from advisory firm Epyllion suggested that Grand Theft Auto 6 could potentially become the first mainstream, standard-edition video game to be priced at $100.
