Big Brother Naija Rules Out Two Housemates from ₦160m Prize Pool Following 'The Gambit' Twist

BBNaija Unveils ‘The Gambit’ Twist, Disqualifying Two Housemates from ₦160m Grand Prize

Big Brother Naija has introduced the first major twist of its new season with the launch of "The Gambit"—a strategic feature that guarantees two housemates a spot in the grand finale, albeit at the cost of their eligibility for the ₦160 million grand prize.

The unexpected development was revealed during Monday’s live session with the housemates and subsequently confirmed across the show’s official social media channels. Organisers have officially opened public voting to let viewers select one male and one female contestant to assume these roles.

Under this new arrangement, the male and female housemates securing the most votes will be designated as The Gambits. While this grants them immunity from eviction all the way through to the final week, it completely removes them from contention for the season's record-breaking cash prize.

Biggie’s first twist is here! There’s NO eviction this week. Instead, YOU will choose one male and one female Housemate to become The Gambit, a role with huge power… and an even bigger sacrifice. They’ll earn a guaranteed place in the House until the very end of the game… but there’s one major catch. They cannot win the grand prize,” the organisers wrote.

Public voting is currently ongoing, with all housemates eligible for selection except the reigning Head of House, Chimsom Chuka, who is exempt from this week's process.

Clarifying the mechanics of the twist to the contestants, Biggie explained that The Gambit is intended to provide guaranteed safety in the house in exchange for forfeiting the opportunity to win the ultimate prize.

“This gameplay is called The Gambit. Should you be selected, you will be gifted longevity in the Big Brother house, guaranteeing you a place in the game until the end of the season,” Biggie said.

However, he emphasized that assuming the role is subject to a major condition.

“However, it comes with one important condition. You will not be competing for the grand prize. You will, however, remain a fully-fledged housemate, and all the rules of the game still apply to you.”

Biggie added that while the selected housemates will no longer be eligible for the cash reward, they will remain fully involved in all aspects of the reality show.

“As you continue to live in the house, you will participate in all house activities, earn rewards, and experience everything the Big Brother house has to offer,” he said.

This latest twist arrives less than 24 hours after the launch of the new Big Brother Naija season and its fresh roster of housemates, following Chimsom Chuka’s emergence as the inaugural Head of House.
