​Jared Leto Denies Sexual Assault Allegations Following BBC Documentary

Academy Award-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto has firmly denied all allegations of sexual assault and criminal sexual conduct following the release of a BBC investigative documentary featuring accounts from 10 women. The film, titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, details interactions that allegedly occurred between 2002 and 2016, when the artist was in his 30s and 40s. Among the testimonies—nine of which were shared publicly for the first time—four women accused Leto of offenses committed when they were teenagers.

The accounts include severe claims of misconduct involving minors. One woman alleged she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom at age 17, while another accused Leto of an incident that would constitute statutory rape under California law after a discussion regarding the state's age of consent. Additional accounts include allegations of verbal threats made to a 19-year-old in a hotel room and repeated sexually explicit phone calls made to a 16-year-old, who claims she subsequently refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement regarding their relationship. The BBC reported that it corroborated these statements through interviews with friends and family members, as well as photographic evidence, messages, and a review of the unexecuted non-disclosure document.

The documentary also features testimonies from two former associates of Leto’s band, who claimed that staff members harbored growing concerns over his interactions with underage fans at concerts and recording venues. Despite the nature of the investigative findings and supporting materials presented by the broadcaster, Leto has strongly denied all accusations of wrongdoing.

In a statement issued through his representatives after the documentary was published, the Academy Award winner said: “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”

These recent allegations build upon previous claims made against the actor. In 2025, Los Angeles DJ Allie Teilz publicly accused Leto of assaulting her when she was 17, which prompted several other women to come forward with similar accounts—claims that Leto also denied at the time.

Leto has built a prominent career spanning more than three decades across both the film and music industries. He earned the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club (2014) and has featured in major productions including Fight Club, Blade Runner 2049, and Suicide Squad, alongside his work as the frontman for Thirty Seconds to Mars. Despite the mounting controversy, the BBC reports that the band remains scheduled to tour the UK and mainland Europe next year.
