Afro-house artist Niniola Apata is set to release her new single, “O Du Mi,” marking her first major musical release after the death of her husband and manager, Michael Ndika, in May 2026.
Scheduled for release on August 14, the track comes after months of grieving for the singer, who was married to the NaijaReview CEO for 13 years.
Niniola previously shared her grief on social media, writing “God took him” and “My husband died,” while later describing Ndika as her “best friend, confidant, pillar, business partner and husband.”
The upcoming single captures a deeply personal season defined by themes of love, loss, and emotional recovery.
“Some feelings are too deep for words. So I put them in a song,” she wrote in a preview of the track.
While navigating her loss, Niniola has gradually resumed public appearances and live performances, including a recent attendance at her younger sister Teniola Apata’s album launch.
Reflecting on her return to the stage, Niniola acknowledged the difficulty of continuing her craft, stating: “There are no words for a moment like this, but I know he’d want me to keep singing, to keep showing up, and to keep sharing the gift we’ve always believed in.”
Widely celebrated for hit tracks such as “Maradona” and “Designer,” the Nigerian singer continues to be a leading figure in the Afro-house genre. The release of “O Du Mi” represents a poignant new chapter in both her life and career.
