Emilia Jones has been cast to star in The Retrievals at Netflix, a new drama series created by Molly Smith Metzler (Sirens).

The series draws inspiration from the award-winning New York Times podcast of the same name, authored by Susan Burton. The narrative details a woman's crusade against the Yale Fertility Center after she and nearly 100 other patients underwent surgical procedures without anesthesia due to a nurse stealing their fentanyl.

Produced by LuckyChap and Quiet Coyote, The Retrievals features Metzler (Maid, Sirens) as showrunner, writer, and executive producer under her Quiet Coyote banner. Netflix initially announced the project during its upfront presentation in May.

Jones is set to portray Gabby Clemente, a New Haven bartender and student teacher who unites fellow victims of traumatic egg retrieval surgeries to pursue legal action against Yale.

This project marks Jones's return to Netflix, where she previously starred in Locke & Key. Her recent credits include HBO’s Task and the Anthony Bourdain biopic Tony. Additionally, she is slated to appear in two upcoming features: Bad Bridgets and Netflix's sports drama The 99’ers, which chronicles the 1990s U.S. Women’s National Soccer team.

Jones is represented by CAA, ARG Talent Agency, and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.

In addition to serving as showrunner and head writer, Metzler will executive produce via Quiet Coyote alongside her Maid and Sirens collaborator Colin McKenna. Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Dani Gorin will executive produce for LuckyChap. Caitlin Roper will executive produce on behalf of The New York Times, alongside podcast author Susan Burton.

Lila Neugebauer is attached to direct the pilot episode and will also serve as an executive producer.
