Wizkid Confirmed to Headline Opening Night of Detty December 2026

Grammy Award-winning Afrobeats star Ayodeji "Ibrahim" Balogun popularly known as Wizkid has been announced as the opening night headliner for Detty December Fest 2026, event organizer Livespot360 confirmed.
Scheduled to take the stage on December 18 in Lagos, Wizkid will kick off the 13-day cultural celebration, which runs through December 30. The annual festival celebrates music, food, fashion, and urban culture.
To accommodate growing audience demand, organizers revealed that the 2026 edition will feature an expanded program, including the addition of a secondary performance stage.
“Wizkid will headline the main Festival Stage, while the newly introduced Pulse Stage will provide a platform for emerging artists, new sounds and breakthrough talents shaping the future of African music”.
The upcoming edition builds on the momentum of the festival's official launch in 2025, which drew over 40,000 attendees. That inaugural event boasted an impressive international and African lineup, featuring performers such as Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Shenseea, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Diamond Platnumz, and Phyno, alongside Wande Coal, Ice Prince, Young Jonn, Qing Madi, Fave, and Jux.
Organizers promise that the 2026 iteration will expand even further, offering a richer blend of musical performances, cultural showcases, and interactive entertainment experiences.
Widely recognized as Nigeria's premier holiday season celebration, Detty December annually transforms Lagos into a global hub for Afrobeats, nightlife, and urban culture throughout the month.
