"I Have Never Met Him": Jay-Z Accuser Admits Sexual Assault Allegations Were False

A woman who previously accused American rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter of raping her at age 13 has officially withdrawn the claim, confirming in a formal declaration that the allegations were entirely false.
Identified as Jane Doe in court filings, the Alabama resident originally filed a lawsuit in 2024 alleging that Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs drugged and sexually assaulted her at an afterparty following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. Both artists denied the claims, and she subsequently dropped the suit in February 2025.
Carter subsequently filed legal action against the woman and her former legal team, including attorney Tony Buzbee. In a sworn declaration filed Thursday regarding that matter, the woman confirmed that Carter never assaulted her and that she had neither met nor communicated with him.
“Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever,” she stated.
She added: “My claims that Mr Carter and Mr Combs raped me while a third celebrity, watched are false. There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr Carter.
“I understand my false accusations have caused Mr Carter immense pain, suffering, and damage that can never be fully undone.”
Carter had consistently rejected the claims, characterizing them as a “blackmail attempt” and dismissing them as “frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations”.
Following the dismissal of the lawsuit in February 2025, Carter who is married to singer Beyoncé reflected on the personal toll the case took on his household.
“The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed,” Carter said.
The woman has since been dismissed from Carter’s lawsuit. In her statement, she clarified that she received no financial payment or compensation from Carter or his representatives in exchange for making the declaration.
However, Carter’s legal proceedings against her former legal counsel, led by Buzbee, remain ongoing.
Responding to Rolling Stone, which first reported on the filing, Buzbee stated he had not yet reviewed the document.
“We have multiple lawyers (at least four) who dealt with Ms Doe long before she met me. She gave the exact same story to each. If for some reason now she is claiming she lied to us and the court, that’s new information,” he said.
When Carter initiated legal action against the woman and her attorneys in February 2025, Buzbee claimed Carter’s investigators had repeatedly harassed and threatened her to force a retraction.
However, in her recent declaration, the woman contradicted that assertion: “I never received any threat from Mr Carter or anyone acting on his behalf.”
She explained that after seeing a Facebook advertisement in late 2024 soliciting individuals with potential sexual assault claims against Combs, it “triggered memories of being raped when I was 13 years old”.
Although she was subsequently contacted by a law firm, she claimed she was never provided a draft of the complaint nor did she authorize its filing in October 2024. She further alleged that Buzbee and his co-counsel submitted the lawsuit “without conducting any independent investigation, background inquiry, or due diligence, and without obtaining any corroboration of the allegations”.
“The October Complaint alleges that Mr Carter and Mr Combs raped me when I was a minor while an unnamed celebrity watched. As discussed above, these allegations were false,” she said.
Buzbee continues to represent multiple claimants in separate civil cases against Combs.
Combs had also denied Doe’s allegations, with his legal team dismissing the suit at the time as one of several civil actions “pushed forward by an attorney more focused on media headlines than legal merit”.
Combs was convicted in a U.S. federal court in July 2025 on prostitution-related charges involving two former partners and is currently serving a four-year prison sentence.
