Dele Odule Opens Up About the Darkest Days He Faced: "I Priced My Own Coffin"

Experienced Yoruba actor Dele Odule has shared one of the most difficult chapters of his life, admitting he once went as far as checking the price of his own coffin during a period of deep personal despair.

Speaking in a recent interview, the actor explained that he hit rock bottom while living in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He described a time when his world felt completely broken and he had lost all sense of hope.

“I had priced my own casket before when everything and my life were in shambles in Abeokuta,” Odule revealed. “I didn’t get myself anymore; I didn’t believe I could break through.”

The veteran Nollywood actor also mentioned that his colleague, Olaiya Igwe, was there to see him go through that painful ordeal personally.

“Olaiya Igwe knows about it; I went there with him, and he started crying like a baby,” he said.

He was Born in Ile-Ife in 1959, Odule—who originally hails from Oru Ijebu in Ogun State—shot to fame through his roles in Yoruba cinema, most notably in the film *Ti Oluwa Ni Ile*. He has been a mainstay of the Nigerian film industry since the late 1980s.
