‘I abandoned my skit-making career to break boundaries with my new film, ‘The Devil’s Godfather’

 Patience Erdoo Yisa, a Kogi State actress and skit maker, is currently making headlines with her new film, "The Devil’s Godfather". Shot in Enugu, the movie is gaining massive popularity across the South-East and beyond for its high quality.

With a star-studded cast including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Destiny Etiko, and Yul Edochie, the project is being praised by critics as one of the best regional productions in years. It is even challenging the long-held belief that Lagos is the only major hub for Nigerian filmmaking.

To make this ambitious project a reality, Yisa intentionally stepped away from her successful skit-making career, choosing to wait for the perfect moment to focus entirely on this big-budget cinematic debut.

According to her statement: “I wanted to do something different and at the end of the day an issue must be addressed. We know we have a lot of issues in Nigeria, from insecurity to the rest. This is a political movie, a very interesting one. I guess they have to see it to know what it is about. I was very deliberate about the cast I wanted to use. I needed those who would convincingly interpret my concept. That is why I cast the likes of Kanayo O. Kanayo, Destiny Etiko, Yul Edochie, Jane Obi, Alex Usifo, Emma Ayalogu, myself, Patience Yisa, among many others.

“The synopsis is a political message that is sending a strong signal to the polity. It is apt. It is coming at the right time. The movie encourages people to go into politics and maintain integrity, understanding that a good name is always better than wealth. There are so many messages in it.

“When I wanted to shoot the movie, there was no market for it. But people have seen the work I have put into it, and I get to choose the market I want it to be.

“It is high time producers began to shoot classy movies even on YouTube.”

The film is a joint production between Patience Yisa TV and Earthcore Mining and Energy Resources Limited.
