Nollywood actress Sophia Chisom, widely known by her stage name Soso, has asserted that actors should view onscreen kissing strictly as a professional duty rather than an opportunity for personal pleasure.
The actress shared her insights during an interview on TVC, speaking in response to recent complaints from certain cast members who claimed they had never experienced a "good kiss" whilst filming.
Soso made it clear that it would be virtually impossible for any male co-star to derive pleasure from kissing her on set, as she strictly forbids the use of tongue during romantic scenes.
She noted that she keeps her mouth firmly closed, utilising only her lips to ensure she avoids swapping saliva with her fellow actors.
“I don’t know if people kiss with their tongues, but I do not kiss with my tongue. My teeth are always closed during kissing scenes, so it is just the lips. But because it is an act, we have to make it believable,” Soso stated.
She added that swapping saliva with various co-stars is entirely unnecessary, stressing that a film scene is simply a job. She found it rather bizarre that colleagues were complaining about a lack of decent kisses on set, reiterating that the act is not meant to be enjoyable in the slightest.
Her comments follow remarks from a few fellow Nollywood actors, including her frequent co-star Saga Adeolu, who recently went public about the fact that onscreen kisses are rarely pleasant and that they have yet to experience a good one throughout their careers.
